We have been supplying the Turbomed Classic since 2017 and have seen countless number of people improve their walking and abilities with this revolutionary device.
The original Turbomed Xtern was a great product, but it had a few drawbacks. For example, it could be difficult to put on if you have poor hand strength or lacked the ability to push your foot into the shoe. The straps were also not as secure as they could be, and the brace itself was not as stiff as some people would have liked.
With the launch of Frontier and Summit, they made all the improvements we could have hoped for.

Turbomed Xtern Frontier
The Frontier is our favourite of the new versions giving us the ability to fit it to people previously unable to get the original Turbomed Xtern on.
The new design allows you to put your leg in from the back of the device making it much easier to get on. It also features a magnetised Velcro strap to aid in getting that strap fit just right.
An added bonus is that they have also made the Frontier stiffer reporting that it gives 25% more side-to-side stability when compared to the Xtern Classic.

Turbomed Xtern Summit
The Turbomed Xtern Summit is the premium version in the Turbomed range. It keeps the form of the Classic Turbomed but replaces sections with Carbon Fibre.
The use of carbon fibre makes the Summit 25% lighter than the Classic Turbomed and they report it provides 18% more lift power and 35% more side-to-side strength.

Can I try the Turbomed Versions?
We keep the Turbomed trial kit which is based on the Classic Xtern. This will allow you to test the device and see if it works for you.
Unfortunately there isn't a test kit for the Summit or Frontier but we do keep samples so you can have a look at them.
Our Clinicians will be able to tell you which version is most suitable for your condition.
Can I take a Turbomed away on the day?
All versions of the Turbomed are made to order and need sized using the test kit. This ensures that they fit on the footwear you have selected and is a suitable length up the leg.
How long does it take to get a Turbomed made?
We would normally factor in two weeks between assessment and fitting. While it is possible to them made quicker it is not always possible. We would always attempt to work the quickest that we can.
Does the Buchanan Clinic make / distribute the Turbomed?
The Turbomed is distributed by Blatchfords in the UK.
